Gone in the FireA Chapter by TinaSummerGone
in the Fire Soo-young awoke in her bedroom.
“What happened?” She asked, looking around the room. “You fainted.” Soo-young’s
head shot to the left side of the room. “What are you doing in my room?” She
asked Kyong-Wook. Kyong-Wook looked at soo-young and laughed. “I think you mean
our room.” He said. Soo-young’s eye’s widened. “What?” She asked. “Because there’s no room for me.
Your parents have decided that we will be sharing a room. That is until we
battle tomorrow.” Kyong-Wook, saw the confused look on Soo-young’s face. “Your parents have also decided that we will
battle tomorrow and if I when I get to stay in here. And if you win, I have to
sleep in the kitchen.” Soo-young
scoffed. “Good luck beating me, Kyu-sung says I’m the best fighter he’s ever
trained.” “He must not have a lot of
students.” Kyong-Wook said. “If I remember correctly, you were the one laying
on the ground, groaning.” Soo-young bragged. Kyong-Wook rolled his eyes.
“Whatever I’m leaving.” Kyong-Wook said and left the room.
Soo-young rolled her eyes and headed to the balcony. The cold air felt
refreshing in her face. The night sky shone above her. She liked the coldness,
it made her feel like she was a part of the night. She went to rest her hand
against her wrist, but jerked her hand back as she felt a painful sting. She
looked at her burning hand. “What?” She whispered. It didn’t make any sense to her, why or how
she burnt her hand. All she did was touch her wrist. Soo-young looked at her wrist, the crescent moon glowing. Pain shot through her wrist again. Soo-young fell to the ground, clutching her wrist. Once again that night Soo-young fainted. Kyong-Wook entered Soo-young’s bedroom.
“Soo-young?” he called. Silence filled the room. Kyong-Wook looked around the
room, hoping to find the girl. “Where could she have gone?” he whispered. A
loud creek came from the balcony door. Kyong-Wook cautiously walked over to the
door. He stepped on to
the balcony looking for the short girl. Kyong-Wook turned the corner and
stopped. The shock quickly passed and Kyong-Wook ran over to the pale girl.
“Soo-young? Wake up. Wake up.” Kyong-Wook shook soo-young harder, but she
didn’t wake. Thinking over what to do, Kyong-Wook
picked up Soo-young and ran through the halls. The sound of shoe’s hitting the
floor echoed throughout the castle. Kyong-Wook threw open the doors to
Soo-Young’s parents room. Her father looked at Kyong-Wook in surprise, her mother
looked at her daughter with fear. “What’s wrong with Soo-young?!” She
exclaimed. “I don’t know, I found her like this out on the balcony.” Kyong-Wook
explained. Soo-young’s father took his daughter out of Kyong-wook’s arms and
laid her on the bed. He felt her forehead. “She’s warm, hot almost. He said.
“How? It’s ice -cold outside.” Kyong-Wook asked. “I don’t know.”
He said. “This has only happened once and she was in sunlighters’ territory.
But this- this I don’t understand.” Soo-young’s
mother grabbed her daughter’s hand. She felt the burning sensation on her wrist
and turned her hand over. “Honey, her tattoo is glowing.” © 2015 TinaSummer |
