My One True Love

My One True Love

A Story by Tina H.W.

My One True Love,

I fell in love with you long before the day came when we finally met face-to-face. There you were; tall; proud; sturdy. I could tell you were worldly-wise; you had seen it all. I fell deeper in love with you from that day and I've never stopped.

I love you for your ever-changing moods: bright and breezy in the sunshine one day; black and moody the next. I love you for opening my eyes to a world I'd only dreamed of before I met you. You have shown me so many wonders of the world; let me taste exotic food; hear hundreds of such beautiful languages.

I love you for letting me be who I am without sitting in judgement. The times I fulfilled my impulse to sing loudly and dance wildly in the street...Who was it who didn't turn away in embarrassment? It was you, my love. You were there when I discovered bright new things and couldn't control my excitement. And it was you who never turned on me when all I could do was moan about the rain when I'd stupidly forgotten my umbrella. You offered me shelter.

I love you, even though I know I'll always be sharing you with so many others who love you; have taken you into their hearts, just as I did all those years ago. The times we spend apart, I know you'll always be there, waiting for me to welcome me back home to you.

You love me with that special unconditional love even though sometimes I take you for granted; your beauty; your knowledge; your wisdom; your...love...You are far older than me but what does age matter when we have a lasting love like ours?

You are my world; my strength; my guidance; my one true love and my soulmate.

I love you. I will always love you, City of London.

Yours forever

Tina

I have been to London often.I wish I'd seen through these rose glasses. All I saw was chaos and drabness. People rushing without time for one another. I couldn't wait to leave.
One of England's finest sons, Paul Weller (award winning lyricist) actually alluded to the 'coldness' of London in a song with the line 'I've got blisters on my feet - trying to find a friend in Oxford Street.'
But beauty is in the eye of the beholder I guess.
Nice one Tina.

ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!! DAMN YOU TINA. You are so AMAZING at doing these things. tall, sturdy proud - WHY O WHY DID I NOT TWIG. HOW THE HELL DO YOU COME UP WITH THESE THINGS.
I had a piece of paper on the screen COVERING each line as I went down. The reason being is becuase I could feel my eyes wanting to wander and find the answer.

YOU ARE REMARKABLE WHEN IT COMES TO SHORT PIECES.

I bet you have a smirk all over your face right now. I can almost see it.
I have a smirk all over mine too!!

UNBLOODYBELEIVEABLE YOU GOT ME AGAIN!!!!!

'She' was my love too once, and I lived with her for a while. We had good times and great fun.

But then I left her for Little Miss countryside ;)
