Fearful Connections

Fearful Connections

A Poem by Tina
"

I think this poem is very important, People often suffer from Social Anxiety, It is easier for them to be alone then connect with someone and risk rejection or disappointment.

"
Alone, afraid to connect
My face tells it all
I am open for observation
My voice is so small

My feelings are different
Than those who can speak
Conversing with others
Their effortless leak

I have so much to say
I have stories to tell
To convey them to others
Is my living Hell

Words can be poison
But silence is too
Speaking out fluently
Is what I yearn to do

You obviously have social anxieties because you've captured the feeling so well in just four stanzas. I used to, and still do sometimes, have social anxieties. I guess the thing that helped me break free from it was something that you pointed out in the last stanza. Silence CAN and IS poison for a lot of us suffering from SA...more so than speaking out because we allow our thoughts and feelings to congeal inside of us, blocking our happiness and release. You captured all of it very well. Kudos to you.

There is also a degree of fear in what you write about. I've been there. I know what it feels like to think people are focused on you and every word you say. You have great talent...keep writing.

I stopped having recurring dreams of being mute only when I started writing. So can relate to your words.
