Ch. 18: Creeping

Ch. 18: Creeping

A Chapter by Tina Bee

When we got The Burger Stand there was a long line of cars ahead of us.

"I like you Myra" Ricky said.

"I like you too" I told him.

"I can always break up with Laura. We fight too much and she's too needy. That's why I like you. You don't need anyones attention. You're so amazing" Ricky said.

"No try and make it work with Laura and don't use me as a reason why you two break up. When the time is right we'll get together. Let's just get our food and enjoy the moment" I told him.

"You're amazing" Ricky said.

His was beaming from ear to ear. His blue eyes glistened even with no light. His dark black hair was spiked and the subtle freckles on his nose were enchanting. He was very good looking and a wonderful kisser. I knew I wasn't a virgin anymore so having sex with him would be nothing. However I knew it wasn't right.

My phone started buzzing. Once again it was a number I didn't recognize. Thinking it was Laura I answered this time ready to curse her out.

"Hello?" I said.

"Hi this is David is Myra there?" David asked.

"Oh hey it's me" I said.

"Are you busy?" David asked.

"No, how are you?" I asked.

"I'm doing good. Just got home from work. I've been thinking about you" David said.

Ricky was busy looking at the menu.

"Really?" I asked.

"Yea. Look I know we just met, but I think you're a nice girl. I'd love to take you out sometime" David said.

"That would be nice" I told him.

"Are you busy next Friday? That's my day off" David said.

"No I'm not busy" I said.

"Good. Well I'm about to watch TV. I'll call you later for your address and stuff. I have a car so I can pick you up" David said.

"Sure that's fine. Nice talking to you" I told him.

"What do you want?" Ricky asked me loudly.

"Alright bye" David said and the call ended.

I wasn't sure if David had heard Ricky, but if he asked I would tell him it was one of my brothers.

"Get me a cheeseburger, fries, and a shake" I told me.

"You really aren't like other girls. Most would've said a salad" Ricky told me.

"Yea I know, but I'm not like most girls" I said.

"You sure aren't. Who called?" Ricky asked.

"Oh this girl from school. She wanted to know how my summer was going" I said.

"Wow summer just started" Ricky said.

"Yea some people" I told him.

"Yea some people" Ricky told me just as we pulled up to the order box.

Ricky and I sat, ate, and talked until 2 AM. I was having so much fun.

"No I've never had a real boyfriend before, but I hope to have one in high school" I told him.

"Relationships are overrated" Ricky told me.

"Why do you say that?" I asked.

"Well for one you always have to consider another persons feelings and most of the time I just want to be me" Ricky said.

"So why should we get together?" I asked.

"Because I can be myself when I'm with you. I don't have to be this other person" Ricky said.

"How will you break the news to Kevin?" I asked.

"Well I'd just tell him straight up: I want to be in a serious relationship with you" Ricky said.

"What if he was against it?" I asked.

"I wouldn't care I'd still be with you" Ricky said.

This made me smile. My cell phone was buzzing from a text. It was mom.

"I'm heading to bed and I just wanted to hear how things are going" Mom said.

"I'm fine. We're eating. I'll be home in an hour" I said.

"So what are you plans for after high school?" I asked.

"I have a scholarship coming to me from all sorts of colleges. I'll accept one of them and then I'm out of here" Ricky said.

"You wouldn't be sad about leaving your friends?" I asked.

"No because everyone I know isn't really important to me, but I'd miss you for sure" Ricky said.

"Good to know" I said.

My phone was buzzing again, but this time it was a call. I looked and saw the same number from when Laura called me.

"It's her, huh? Let me talk" Ricky said.

"Here" I told him.

"Hello?" Ricky asked.

"Yea I'm with her" Ricky said.

"We're not together remember?" Ricky asked.

"No you need to get a grip and leave Myra alone" Ricky said.

"Yea I do care about her, so what?" Ricky asked.

"Whatever" Ricky said and handed me the phone.

The call had ended.

"What did she say?" I asked.

"She was crying about how I'm cheating and that she's going to mess you up. She won't do anything" Ricky laughed.

"It's time I headed home. It's after 2 AM and I'm sure my mom is worried" I said.

"Ok" Ricky said.

I turned to him and gave him a kiss. He kissed me back and we were at it again. This time Ricky went under my dress and was clawing at my underwear.

"No" I said pushing him off.

"What?" Ricky asked.

"I'm not ready for that" I said.

"I understand. Like I said you're one of a kind Myra. Stay that way" Ricky said and turned the accelerator on.

Ricky dropped me off in front of my house. People were standing in our driveway talking and it was already three AM.

"Well this was wonderful. Thanks for everything" I said.

Right back at you. I'll call you tomorrow" Ricky said and I got out and closed the door and he drove away.

I walked up the driveway smiling.

"Who was that?" I heard Mike ask.

"Huh?" I asked.

"Looked like Santos" some guy said.

"Yea that had to be Santos" another guy with a beer in his hand said.

"Was that Santos?" Mike asked me.

"No" I lied and continued into the house.

Inside people were passed out on the floor. Others were on the couch talking. There were guys and girls everywhere.

I smelt marijuana coming from the kitchen and knew that the pot smokers must've cleaned out refrigerator out. I wasn't hungry so I headed upstairs. I sent mom a text that I was home and went into room. I locked my door and got undressed. I was just hitting the pillow when I got a text. It was from Greg.

"I know you're mad. I know you hate me. I guess I can't make things go back to the way they were" Greg said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"I fucked up" Greg said.

"You had a moment" I told him.

"Yea all over the neighborhood and embarrassed my parents, you, and myself" Greg said.

"Have you gone to sleep yet?" I asked.

"Can't sleep" Greg said.

"Me neither" I said.

"Can I call you?" Greg asked.

"Sure" I said and my phone rang right away.

"Hey" I said.

"Hi" Greg said.

"You sound drugged" I told him.

"My mom has me on Valium" he said.

"Damn" I told him.

"So are you mad?" Greg asked.

"No" I told him.

"I'm sorry" Greg said.

"I know" I told him.

"Do you forgive me?" Greg asked.

"I was never angry with you" I told him.

"OK" Greg said.

"What did you do yesterday?" I asked him.

"Slept mostly and ate a little. Mom and dad want to send me out of town for the summer" Greg said.

"Maybe you should go" I told him.

"Yea I know I should" Greg said.

"Where would you go?" I asked.

"My grandparents in Boca" Greg said.

"Well at least you'd have fun" I said.

"Not really. They're old and don't believe in television or the Internet" Greg said.

"Sounds like hell" I told him.

"Your brothers threw a party?" Greg asked.

"Yea something like that" I told him.

A chilling thought came to my mind. Had Greg been watching the house all night until I got home?

"I wish I could've gone. No one ever invites me anywhere. Donald always gets invited and even Steven gets more invitations and he's twelve!" Greg sighed.

"Don't worry Greggy when the time comes you'll find the right people to hang out with and you'll actually have fun with them. All my brothers do is drink and smoke weed. You'd be depressed around them" I said.

"You're right" Greg said.

"I'll miss you Greggy" I said feeling my eyelids growing heavy.

"Why?" Greg asked.

"Because you're my Greg. You're mine" I said.

"And you're my Myra" Greg said.

"Greg?" I said.

"Yea" he answered.

"I got to get some sleep. I had a long night. I'll text you when I wake up" I said.

"Ok goodnight" Greg said.

"More like good morning" I said laughing and hanging up.

I love just how mature Myra is but isn't she getting herself into trouble by trying to date David, too, and I don't know if I like Rick because he is fake and I can feel it. Good book so far.

I liked this chapter. It was a good view into Myra and how she deals
with her relationships. Excellent dialogue!

Wow! Rick is such a typical d****e-bag jock strap with a fake sense of care and emotion towards anyone, or anything. I used to fall for that bull crap on the daily...So I can totally relate here.
