A Message to a Younger Me

A Message to a Younger Me

A Chapter by Timothy G. Britton

If I could go back and tell myself, I would help to myself see….

That, No,  I WASN’T always right.

I wasn’t smarter or more enlightened than everyone else in the world.

That the feelings of the people that are closest to me are more important than my own.

That those same feelings of not being appreciated, acknowledged or truly cared about by others, that I myself may be in some way blindly inflicting on someone very close to me.

See, feel and take in all of the life that surrounds me and the people that I truly care about in it. Fully embrace it, nurture it and breathe life into it with compassion and love, realizing I only get ONE chance to make this right.

Understanding that putting myself first will not bring me the happiness I wish or expect to find. Putting those I love first, WILL!

That when I truly am holding love in my hands, give it EVERYTHING I’ve got, NOTHING will EVER be more IMPORTANT!!!!

That the effects of anger or negative energy of any kind in a relationship or in a family, may not show itself right away but can be everlasting.

These are some of the lessons I learned along my way. Lessons that I wish I could somehow send back in a message to a younger me.
