Within a Dragons Eyes

 

Lightning flashed on a stormy night,

revealing to them the dragon’s flight.

 

They watch in fear as it twists and turns,

for rage and anger within it burns.

 

It drops like death from the stormy sky,

crashing down from way up high.

 

Then lets out a God-awful roar,

like nothing they ever heard before.

 

Clearly it was vengeance that the dragon seek,

to take life for the life they took, upon the mountain peak.

 

That day they set out to find and kill, that which they did not understand,

three creatures that they called evil beast were slain by holy men.

 

People ran for shelter a place where they could hide,

but they knew without a doubt, on this day that they would die.

 

The only regret within them, for what they did that day,

was when they killed the others, they let that one get away.

 

Then the dragon landed before them, as they trembled with great fear,

for its face so full of anger, then they saw the dragons tear.

 

They all stood in wonder as they looked into her eyes,

and saw the sorrow of a mother who had lost her children’s lives.

 

It all became so clear to them, what a lesson for them to learn,

and the price they’d pay for what they’d done that day, they knew that they would burn.

 

But the beast they once called evil, much to their surprise,

spread her wings and flew away, showing them where the evil truly lies.

 

Upon the spot where that teardrop fell, nothing ever grew again,

it would forever remind them all, of the terrible thing they did.
