Look Inside

Look Inside

A Chapter by Timothy G. Britton

Close your eyes and then tell me; what inside there do you see?

Is it darkness or is there light; is it day or is it night?

Listen closely with opened ears, what inside there do you hear?

Total silence or is there sound, words of wisdom or only questions found?

Tell me now what do you feel, is it fake or is it real?

Is it joy or is it pain; is there sunshine or pouring rain?

Is each day different or are they all the same?

Are you young but feeling old, when it’s warm do you feel cold?

Are you feeling numb and don’t really know, which way, which way, which way to go?

Do you see yourself as being strong or do you feel like something is always wrong?

Have you felt like this for so very long that you’ve lost your will to carry on?

What do you see or do you care, when into the reflection of the mirror you stare?

Do you recognize the person that is standing there or are you lost inside somewhere?

Can you hear a distant voice that calls, from somewhere back behind those walls?

Built by you over years gone by, a place where you could run and hide,

in troubled, troubled, troubled times.

Are you afraid of what you’ll find if you take a look down deep inside?

Close your eyes what do you see?

Is it who you used to be, lost inside without a key, waiting there for you to set him free?

Set him free!
