I am sheA Poem by Lichen Eyessomething I wrote for a character of mine (it was written from the character's perspective) rather dark and a little ambivalent/melodramatic. Rawk.
As I stared into my mirror dark
I saw a girl like me- at her breast a hole, her eyes aglow a brutal girl was she she asked me for my oldest fears and I gave my frailty; that I should try, and fail, and fall and have all taken from me she asked me for my deepest rage- I gave my impotence, the cords that bind and hold me fast while I struggled in silence she asked me of bitter despair and I gave her sacrifice- that I should give what others won't while they flourish in the light She asked no joy, no love, nor peace, but was sated on my woes her gaze was slaked, her breast was filled my stalwart friend, not foe I asked her why she would accept such things for her toll she smiled at me and replied "such things make me whole" She began to fade, I asked her name but none she gave to me, I asked if she was my reflection she answered "I am she" © 2012 Lichen EyesAuthor's Note
