Found her

Found her

A Poem by Lichen Eyes
"

living in denial for so long, things snap and get hairy when the past comes back... before the storm passes.

"

I found her again,

Hidden in amongst

The swirls of exhaled

Cigarette smoke

In the cold air

As everyone looked up

Cassiopeia’s skirts

And made Cheshire Cat smiles

As we licked our lips

Over our snide comments

With 5 pairs of black boots

Thumping down the hill

Churning up worried stares

Along with the dust

In our wake

Speaking of past misdemeanors

And old sins

She was there, finally

Having known the love of

Another woman’s man

She tilted back her head

swallowed her first

gulp of fire

and we were the same.

Great imagery in this poem! So much emotion translated in this well written poem!

I see what you mean, the last four lines seem to dampen the power of imagery and emotion of the rest of the poem. Perhaps because the reader is not sure of what happened, what fire? what happened? Your final line is great, keep it.
