In the ForestA Poem by KristenIn the forest I listened For a whisper For a cry of a human I heard nothing and sighed I was alone. So I roamed, I roamed the forest Without rest, I walked and walked and walked And I listened. The birds were singing, High up in the treetops The wind Whistled gently around me The earth crunched almost soundlessly Beneath my feet Life was everywhere Living without hardly a care Never worrying about trivial things That made a human what he was. I loved the simplicity of the forest The chain of predator and prey The simple task of living And only living The forest life was what I most needed To escape from the troubles of the human world I took comfort in its embrace of welcome As I walked away from my worries and woes. The forest taught me a great deal of things. It taught me to forget And remember to live. © 2010 Kristen |
