My Lullaby

My Lullaby

A Poem by Kristen

My Lullaby

I can’t stand it when I cry,

Because I fear,

That it will be weakness in your eyes,

My lullaby.

When you cradle me in your arms,

Late at night,

And hum me my lullaby,

To soothe the raw pain in my heart,

That shouldn’t be there to start.

For I have you,

My lullaby.

But in spite of my childish ways,

You stay.

You wipe away,

My tears, before they even have the chance to dry,

My lullaby.

The steady beat of our hearts, forever intertwined,

And the fragrant smell, of our red current wine

And the laughter to come,

In the many years ahead,

Is certainly nothing I could ever dread.

Nothing at all,

Cause I have you,

My lullaby.

You and I my dear,

Have nothing to fear,

No longer will I shed a tear,

For you are all I need.

My prince,

My gift from Providence,

For you, I would surely die,

My lullaby.

But when we overcome all of this foolishness,

And our newly found, wedded bliss,

And our old hearts, (still intertwined)

No longer beat as steadily,

As they used to be.

One thing will never change,

One thing will never be re-arranged,

And that is my love,

My everlasting love,

For my lullaby,

My prince,

My gift from Providence,

The reason for my existence.

My dearest lullaby.

A beautiful poem. You can write. Poem was well written. Description and story brought me in and held me to your last word. The people who can set our heart a fire are few in a life. Title was catchy. Flow was outstanding and a perfect ending to your poem.
