Graveyard Romance

Graveyard Romance

A Poem by Kristen

Graveyard Romance

Seven months have long since passed

When they laid your casket beneath the grass

I haven’t been quite the same

Since I learned of that dreadful crash

Poison filled my mind and heart

When I learned that yours would never again start

My thoughts were clouded with pain

I could not think clearly

Once a month,

I sit by your grave

Wondering if it hurt

Missing you.

Honoring your memory,

Keeping your name alive.

Now one year later,

I am remembering that night,

That dreadful night,

That you took your last breath,

I sit here,

Whispering your name,

Talking to my dead lover.

My graveyard love,

Now dead.

Yet here I am,

Imagining when we’ll be together again.

And when we’ll dance again,

I forever leaving this,

Graveyard romance.

A sad and beautiful poem. Sitting with people we have loss and miss leave us wishing for better days. I like the feel and movement of your words. I like your ending. Made me think.
