Song of the nightmare

Song of the nightmare

A Poem by Tim Thompson
"

A little song I went through in life

     Song from the nightmare

                                                       By

I wonder through this night                                Tim Thompson

I have not seen the day since I was born

I am trapped in the night

I have no one by my side

I have no place to call my own

Oh God why have you forsaken me

I’m down on my knees praying hard

I’m a lone soldier

Trapped in the night

I’m screaming out your name Lord

Begging you please help me out

I have no friends and family by my side

Please help me Lord

I need to go back into the day

The day with the sun

For all I see now is night

I prayed hard Lord

Now you have sent somebody

To save me from the night

I’m happy to see the sun again

I’m happy you’re by my side

Now I have my friends and family

I will never leave again

I have you by my side.

This is good poetry--I really like it. Poetry rarely has to rhyme to be good, and some of the very best never does, in my opinion. I like the struggle with depression and darkness, though the darkness as an analogy is a little foreign to me. In reality, some people are naturally more comfortable in the daylight, others at night, with perhaps the only light being from the moon and stars on a quiet winter's eve. I am of the latter group--the sun is always too bright for me.
