IntroductionA Chapter by CBThe girl called Sparrow sat on her wide windowsill and stared up at the silver moon. The moon was so bright it seemed to burn away the tar black sky trying to swallow it whole. She looked away from the moon to look at the stars. She was suddenly reminded of the poem her father used to whisper to her as a little girl. Silver goes where Starlight leads, starlit waves and silvered leaves. As she crept closer the whispers turned into words. “Yes. It might be risky, but you still need to bring it. Jonathan will be away for the week, so all we will have to do is dispose of the girl. . . I understand. But we always have the option of-” Her stepmother paused as if listening for something. Sparrow held her breath. If she were to hear me now, she might kill me, she thought, No, what am I thinking? She wouldn’t be capable of something like that, would she...? © 2012 CB
