He asked me why

What could I say?

That what people told         

Would possibly go away?                 

 

I wish I could say it was someone else

But I know that wouldn’t be true

Because deep down inside

I knew they had the right clue

 

So I made up a rumor about myself

Steering them away

From what I did wrong

Hoping their thoughts would sway

 

Who tells lies to keep other lies hidden?

Kept locked under shaky words

Fragile and easy to break

Never to be spoken to a nosy bird

Told by the person based on

Swirls of fabrication

Truth drawn purposely wrong
