Atop The Pyre

Losing an impossible love.

A light is in the distance.
I can see it, amidst the falling snow.
It looks like fire.
I can’t clearly see it, but in this instance
Admist the veil of white, I know
It is flame atop the pyre.
And now it shows admittance,
I can see it slowly grow
And yet I sense a liar.
I need to feel acquittance
From this fire in the snow
I must leave my old desire.
