Midnight MoonA Poem by Doug JenkinsIn honor of the Super Moon.
The moon drew close; its smiling face grew bright
Attracting eyes from all around the world To gaze upon its grin, absorb its light And relish all its wonder, now unfurled. The means of man are brandished now catch An image of the moment earth and moon Achieve their perigee and try to fetch The chance to kiss and make the cosmos swoon. And yet, it must not be forgotten how The splendor of this satellite’s achieved; Without the Sun, we’d never know the cow Leaped over Old Man Moon, as we’ve received. The Moon at midnight is a glorious sight; But sans the sun, it would not have its light. D. Allen Jenkins © 2018 Doug Jenkins |
