Pretending

Pretending

A Poem by Tatiana Lexia

I’m sorry for my words.

I’m sorry for what was said.

They were over the line.

We weren’t right in the head.

I really hate what we’ve both caused.

I really hate this situation.

We were stupid and childish

Working a useless aspiration.

You’ll hate it that I think this.

That I’m not right for you.

You may argue otherwise,

But I know this to be true.

Find someone who isn’t broken.

Find someone who is free.

Someone beautiful and wistful

And forget about what could be.

Pretending is too hard.

So let’s stop pretending.

Because I know for a fact

That we are not blending.

Maybe we’ll forget in time

What we had and what we shared.

Because the horrid truth is

I wish I never cared.
