Confusion is a thing

That can really f**k you up.

It can make you sing

A different tune

And shatter your favorite cup.

When you want to move on,

And when you thought you had,

When your stupid thoughts were gone,

But really, they never were;

They'd just been forgotten a tad.

But no, you remember every detail

Like you were experiencing it again.

How you would fight to no avail

To keep an emotional connection,

But your hormones you couldn't contain.

Even now, after all the months

You try your hardest not to admit it,

How your emotions went into depths.

But you force yourself to remember

How your relationship was so unfit.

You hate how you want to protect him

From everyone, including himself.

How you want to give in on a whim

And bring him into your arms;

But you want to protect him from yourself.

If he were enclosed in your arms

You're still unsure if you could let go.

Because he can steal your heart with his charms;

He just has that effect on you,

And it would just cause you both woe.

So just keep your distance

Don't ever get close like that again

Never declare your coexistence

To be anything more than

The potential for emotional pain.
