The Life Of A Falling LeafA Poem by AnaThis is a poem from the perspective of a leaf. It is about the feelings of a leaf, about how it feels when it sees other leaves falling and how it feels when it actually starts to fall.
Life is a bed of roses
It was what I thought Until it turned into a Thick thorny mattress, wrought To show me what life exposes I was a young merry leaf Playing with bright butterflies Giving shelter to starlings But time relentlessly flies Suddenly breaking this lively dream I saw my leaf mates fall And return they never did I thought it was a journey Thought about the fruits of fun they reaped And waited for my turn to fall Autumn grew nearer, and I started mirroring the sun It was time, I thought And waited for the descent to begin And with the wind, I lunged Falling felt like flying In the fancy valleys of happiness Everything was so blissful Not a stain of misery to witness And I kept on falling My expectations were soaring Until splash! I fell in a puddle Suddenly the light started darkening As water seeped into my veins with a gurgle The fantasy land I imagined, shattering Now I knew the fate of others As the inevitable hit me My journey would start now The long journey of eternity Away from the childish thoughts Life is like a fragile glass It breaks if it falls But someday I'll be back On the same ole' tree with my folks To again play with bright butterflies © 2022 AnaAuthor's Note
