Save MeA Poem by ThyrzaI’m intent on happiness, even for one measly hour- A single night of impure delight would improve a life so sour. Give me something to work with, take me someplace wild, This is the night of my life, I’m not looking for “mild”. The limo that you can’t afford is waiting for us at the curb Tell the driver to take us away from this sad suburb. Someplace filled with dancing, screaming, touching, singing Along with music that has beat but no meaning. If you help me, I can fly- But little pills only get you so high.
Electric lights and sweating skin, Bodies writhing and mingled with sin. Love feels heavy in the air, mixed with words unspoken, Every soul clings to the night; by morn the spell is broken. If my mind resurfaces, above the hazy crowd, Please get me another drink: reality is not allowed. And when the night is almost over, lead me up the stairs, Carry me to heaven; you’re the only one who cares. If you help me, I can fly- If you kill me, I can’t die.
Release my heart and my soul from this world so cold and cruel. I need freedom in any form, just hold my body, keep me warm. And when the sun begins to show, just leave me be and walk back home.
