WrongA Poem by ThunderlyricsWhen something that at one time felt so right...is not..
One rainy night
You showed up at my door
Saturated by errant drops
Your eyes were glued to the floor…
Lifting your head to take in my vision
Your eyes were wide with emotion…
Some of hurt, some of vengeance
And some of unerring devotion….
I knew why you were standing there..
You were seeking clarification
If I meant this was the end of us,
Or if there was room for reconciliation
I thought I had been clear enough
When you met me in the park
When I told you this just wouldn’t work
You remember, it was well after dark…
We both came to the conclusion
That this thing we had, couldn’t survive
We came from two different worlds
How would we ever fit into each other lives?
I was the one to get up first
And start to walk away
But you grabbed my hand, enclosing my heart
While asking for me to stay..
It took all the courage I could muster
To pry my hands from yours
For in doing so, I ripped my heart
And wrecked some mental doors
So baby, I have to leave it this way
I know you understand
Deep down inside us both
You weren’t meant to by my man
Once this thing is old in mind
You’ll forget about us and move on
Because if I let you through this door tonight
Everything we righted…will again go wrong
