Burnt EmbersA Poem by ThunderlyricsMy memories of you
Are now charred And marred As I try to discard The fact that my heart Longed for you… Tried to move on, but it was hard My thoughts were singed As I cringed At the thought of us Meeting our end Thus begins the trek down a new path Away from a battle, Neither was destined to win Enshrouded in my cloak On hot tears I choked What would provoke you… This love to revoke There’s no longer hope So in darkness, I was left to grope When I realized You were no longer At my side, I felt a tug at my pride Dying a little inside Till I surmised… Why should I hide… I’ve got pride, Yes, I’ve got pride So what was once… My offering of surrender You insufficiently rendered, Based on my gender, so now.. If any thoughts you remember You missed out on my forest of splendor The smoke now clear… All you’ll see is burnt embers
