When (Thinker's Version)

When (Thinker's Version)

A Poem by Douglas S. Williams

Just some things on my mind

When will people stop bullshittin’?

When will people actually stop and listen?

When will people learn to work together?

Instead we leave our brethren hanging with our hand on the lever.

When will date rapists learn that no isn’t yes?

When will dogs talk to her face, not breasts?

When will those with power decide to help the homeless?

Instead we bequeath them alcohol to inebriate their stress.

When will wars in the name of god cease?

When will the world’s leaders take a gander at peace?

When will the ignorant minorities stop calling me a sell out?

Either read a book and join the big leagues, or stay in the dug out.

When will Kanye learn to be humble?

When will science end our world’s cancer troubles?

When will mankind begin to work for mutual benefit?

Instead of crushing each other for the sheer hell of it.

When will our children’s future be made paramount?

When will heavy industries stop polluting our trout?

When will the needs of the many best the needs of the few?

Instead of the upper one percent choosing what the rest shall do.

When will we realize that ignorance equates not to bliss?

Listen to what I am saying, you need to get the gist.

When will we learn that in order to help others we must first be able to stand on our own feet?

If we are to prosper we must fix our home together or we shall know not a life that’s sweet.

Think.
