A child's natureA Poem by ThreadsImpressions of a childDon’t stray too far! The echoes would still
ring A realm so bizarre! The exotic would still
sing (to eyes of this child) An engine’s purr Thrumming like the
world is shaking High beams right at me Blinding from all
sides, like baking But… cold feet? Glaciers! No engine, but meltwaters beneath No beams, but the Sun of snow Oh the beauty! Cracked ice a blue of oceans Oh the feeling! I am sweating, but look: just roll in the snow, you are no more only this bliss wait… the snows hold their
breath, Thunders beneath the
clear skies What do I do? Help! My legs won’t stand,
but lapse they collapse Awe fleets and terror
collects the scraps my mind… it traps The engine was louder Afore my eyes only familiar
knees The child it curled up
in terror Muted shouts, lifted by familiar
arms a calm cheer, no
danger Just a change broken ice a little ways away © 2017 ThreadsAuthor's Note
