Nightclub Superheroes

Nightclub Superheroes

A Poem by Threadgold

For Chad Soul

… until - entering like great, staggering, fucked-up

Captain Americas - the arrival of the Nightclub Superheroes:

taking shots from all directions,

throwing shapes across tables,

stealing six-shooters off cowboys

to save wall-clinging Pocahontases from pistol-slinging come-ons.

Billy the Kid and his gang of merry drunkards,

spilling out onto the street, spitting and sicking

all over the road.

Super keen vision spots misled girl

pinned against the wall down dark alley.

Nightclub Superheroes

take law into own hands

as glazy-eyed boy becomes black-eyed fool.

Sirens. Failed police interference:

mere mortals cannot restrain

Little-Big-Horn-Red-Bull Girl

as she kicks out rear legs and sees red -

all men are predators!

She makes direct contact with pig’s ball sack

THWACK!

Pig squeals and snorts and forces cuffs on frail wrists.

Nightclub Superheroes protest,

risk a night in the pen,

fire words, at the sort of speeds nobody could imagine,

words which nearly pierce florescent vests;

the Nightclub Superheroes have done their best

but the saving of Little-Big-Horn-Red-Bull Girl is out of their reach;

they slur their rights, to freedom of speech

and beg for her release.
