HEROES DIE IN THE GUTTER

HEROES DIE IN THE GUTTER

A Poem by Last Night In Town

If there’s anything that I can suggest, dear friends.

It’s to never stop watching TV.

TV keeps the brain in check.

When you shut the TV off your mind tries to fill the entertainment void with unspeakable horrors.

Once you’ve stared into the abyss for too long, you can’t come back.

I’ll be your martyr.

I’ll go mad out here in the nowhere so you know better.

Don’t be like me.

I turned off the TV and was left to my own inefficient devices for much too long.

Now I have to wander through a wasteland of people not worthy of interview.

Landscapes that aren’t high definition.

I’m going to die here, out in the bullshit, but you don’t have to.

You can smile forever while the lights dance on your face.

You stay enlightened, friends.

DON’T BE A HERO.

HEROES DIE IN THE GUTTER.
