You Are My Daughter

You Are My Daughter

A Poem by Robert
"

My Daughter

"

You are of me every filament

You are everything I will never be

You have never let me down and

have always lifted me up higher

You are strong in your spirit of life

but tangibly not as most are.

I am of you every filament

I am everything you will never be

I have never wanted to let you down

but the day will come when I do

I am not as strong as you in spirit

but tangibly I am more than most.

I am determined to see to it that I

     do not lose you

You are determined to see to it that you

     will not give up

I am the voice of reason and logic

You are the voice of hope and faith.

This is one of the most beautifully-stated messages I've read about a father-daughter relationship. Here's what makes your tribute especially appealing: You do not place yourself above your daughter, or she above you. I love the way you present each of your strengths, yet without any hidden tones of comparison or judgment. Your message uplifts you BOTH in separate & unique ways, this being culminated in the last 2 lines which are awesome. Any daughter would be totally blessed to have such a father.

Good morning Robert,
Sweet open poem about a fatherland daughter... Are you the artist?...Is the drawing your daughter?
Sounds like you are very close and will always be.

Hello Robert,
It is beautiful to find a place of thankfulness. You know it as does your daughter.
Together people can be strong. The strength and gratitude rings through the lines
of above poem. Beautiful to simply enjoy reality of love within family.
Last two lines are so affirming;
'I am the voice of reason and logic
You are the voice of hope and faith.
I needed to be reminded of the loveliness of our children. For they are so lovely!
Blessings,
Kathy

Well I will be waiting for your next piece
This is a real heartfelt touching (melancholic at times due to sad realities of day to day living) poem from father to daughter. I like the intricate, purposeful, honest details and structure layout. I like the paradoxical tone and contrasting emotions designed to show the ups and downs of relationships even between father and daughter. Yet, love is the overall theme that one senses.

WELL DONE

Thank you for the review Tomas.
Interesting write, especially because it is based on a father-daughter relationship. I couldn't relate (cause I'm no one's daughter, lol) but I could definitely understand the message and the tone. The picture adds to the poems, and the last line in the last stanza is strong. She is basically the speaker's anchor, and they are dependant on each other
Glad I read, and thanks for sharing this :)
