You Are My Daughter

You Are My Daughter

A Poem by Robert
"

My Daughter

"

You are of me every filament

You are everything I will never be

You have never let me down and

have always lifted me up higher

You are strong in your spirit of life

but tangibly not as most are.

I am of you every filament

I am everything you will never be

I have never wanted to let you down

but the day will come when I do

I am not as strong as you in spirit

but tangibly I am more than most.

I am determined to see to it that I

     do not lose you

You are determined to see to it that you

     will not give up

I am the voice of reason and logic

You are the voice of hope and faith.

This is one of the most beautifully-stated messages I've read about a father-daughter relationship. Here's what makes your tribute especially appealing: You do not place yourself above your daughter, or she above you. I love the way you present each of your strengths, yet without any hidden tones of comparison or judgment. Your message uplifts you BOTH in separate & unique ways, this being culminated in the last 2 lines which are awesome. Any daughter would be totally blessed to have such a father.

A beautiful write Robert! Our children are the most precious part of life... it's amazing how everything changes... priorities, our love, the way we act when we have a child of our own. Beautiful words for a very special person. :)

This is an Great great Poem for a loving daughter! Daughters are really blessings from God. One can just feel the love and respect you have for your lovely daughter in each line of this special poem. From it we can see she is not only beautiful on the outside but the inside as well. You are a loving father and a dedicated one who will stay by her side through thick and thin. I especially love the last two lines.

I am the voice of reason and logic
You are the voice of hope and faith.

Bless you both and may your days together be happy ones.

Two things, Robert:
One, if the picture is a true likeness of your daughter, no poem will suffice to epitomize her, for her beauty soars high above the scope of mere words.
Two, I find your poem to be sincere, passionate with fatherly love and admiration for his daughter, and deeply dedicated to letting her know just how lucky you both are to have one another.

1000/1000 points, if I could!

I love it, Robert … what else to say, except I know her heart will be dancing after she reads it, just as mine is … smiles to you, My Goodhearted Friend! ⁓ Richard

You have certainly achieved plenty of reviews for this piece - it's starting to look like a petition!!
I think you have done your daughter great justice with this poem, and it is clearly written with craft and intelligence. The 'mirror' effect you have created is very effective both in meaning and form. And the whole presents a kind of 'ying-yang' appearance and meaning. It shows the two alternate strengths of different people and evokes the importance they have to one another. An apt concept for father and daughter.
She should be proud of this.
