The Best and Worst Things Happen in the RainA Poem by ThoseThreeWords
I feel the rain pounding down on my back as I run,
Run from everything that's hurting me. I run until I feel your arms wrap around me, And instantly, I know I'm safe. Your sapphire eyes remind me of the oceans waves, So clear and beautiful, yet so confused and dull, Your hair, wet down from the rain, sticks up everywhere, Your lips purse in a worried line. I forget everything that's wrong in my life when I look at you, Is this love, or a fairytale? I hear you whisper soft words in my ear, As you wipe away the tears I didn't know I shed. You hold me close and let me cry, Silently stroking my hair, and letting out a deep sigh. You tell me everything will be okay, That you're here, and are never going away. I look up at you and smile slightly, watching as you smile back, I wrap my arms around your neck, and know you're being truthful, I know you won't leave me. And suddenly, you disappear like chalk in the rain, Leaving no trace but a memory of what was once there. © 2010 ThoseThreeWordsAuthor's Note
