Where the Mountains Meet the Sea

Where the Mountains Meet the Sea

A Poem by GTVile
"

A poem about where my mind goes when I need to flee from the fetters of life. Its actually the lyrics to the slow song on the new album.

"

The place I run for in my troubled mind

The blinding noise makes solace hard to find

Take me away from bust'ling city streets

This weary heart, human contact defeats

The cliffs behind, infinity before

The birthplace of our world's creation bore

The sandy roots of wood-hewn spires tall

Let me forget that we're all doomed to fall

Insane with hate and lust for outright greed

We take and hurt beyond the call of need

'Til expired the clock of human time

I'll spend my days hidden in cryptic rhyme

Im not there in person as we speak

But in my mind I see the snow-capped peak

There is no place that I would rather be

Than hiding where the mountains meet the sea

I escape the bonds of a troubled life

No need for booze or cutting with a knife

Until the day that I can make it there

Behind my eyes waits escape from despair

I am not there in person as we speak

But in my mind I'm walking down the peak

There is no place that I would rather be

Than hiding where the mountains meet the sea

This piece really takes one on quite a journey.
It's beautiful, and so full full of passion.
Well done.

I don't know much about lyricism but I do know this: what you did above is hard for most. Speaking from myself at least, I find it a challenge to follow form and especially use rhyme without sounding like something out of mother goose. You mention you used free form meter but I find myself reading it in iambic pentameter, which again is difficult. Especially with using a rhyming pattern. Great job.

I love this, I am never there either, maybe in person but my mind is always on the mountain peak. Wonderful piece.

I like the raw reality and yet the ability to move into that space where you allow yourself the dream/thought.. Sometimes for me its only the "thought" or the "seeing" that in my mind, that allows me to make it through one more day... Great write:)

I guess that we ALL have our little refuge where we can hide from the hectic troubles of life. A place where our harassing annoyances are not even an echo behind us. I am happy that you have yours. If you are lucky, it might keep you from losing what little sense that you have left. Nicely written, and your point is well delivered. I enjoyed reading your work.

And you have met the expectations of the simple AABB pattern, and ten beat rhythm with the expertise of a skilled musician!

Your message is touching, and gives hope to the human spirit once in broken form!

A wonderful message of survival!
