The Terrible Revenant of the NightA Poem by GTVileFor the French Sonnet contest. Never written a French sonnet before. Guess we'll see how it goes. Don't be too hard on me, its my first one!A haunting wench upon the stomach sits, Waking her victim in chilling cold sweats, Invading the mind with thoughts and regrets, Breaking the psyche with tormenting fits,
She comes without warning and touches the bed, Suffocating the victim lying there, With images of old pains and despair, Wrenching the neck and impaling the head,
This phantasm knows naught of mercy's kind, She feeds on contentment and peace of mind,
This foul spectre wastes all children and men, Sifting through dreams, all clarity made blind, Looming in shadows and lurking behind, The solace of sleep, this vile witch's den. © 2010 GTVileReviews
