“Bare Nature of Things”

“Bare Nature of Things”

A Poem by Tommy
"

In a cold blink of an eye, she was gone...

"

Like snow, on the twenty-fourth of July,

rolling in, over the bear essence, ravaging

skinny dipped souls, in and out, quick, leaving bitter,

chilled to the bone; running away.

(Taking the heart that dressed this sleeve.)

Cooling lake of fire, blue waves, "Good bye,"

Rocky Mountain heights, passions of love lost

at second glance, watching flakes etched fall

from frigid iced over hearts.

(Abominable and we’re alone)

Sometimes life is unpredictable,

like summer snow, we

never had a chance,

and in a cold blink of an eye, she was gone...

this is a sad tale and reminds me of some one moving away. the summer snow brings in the cold feeling that it leaves in the heart and gives a clear picture to the feelings. the flow was done wonderfully and the imagery fits this sad tale of losing someone.

An outflow of emotion, and more than fine. Like seasons, people come and go, leaving the debris of ache, shock, bewilderment .. shaking the head doesn't clear the aftermath, it exists, it stays.

'Sad, powerful, memorable words.

Damn Tommy.....This one left me feeling crushed. You must have many stories to tell. A man who has not lived can not conjure up such emotion from his imagination. Epic!

love burns our hearts like the hottest of flames and when it's gone, we're cold, cold, cold. I love how you used the sense of feelings with the colors and the contrasting temperatures. Strong piece.

Tommy, I entered into this not expecting much because I confused you with someone else : ) I started reading and the line (Taking the heart that dressed this sleeve) and I thought, wait a minute. I checked again slowed down and enjoyed the treat. this was full of soul. Thank you.

such a sad tale of divisions of intent inside the complex chambers of human relations~ clear and fluid lines open the shell of hurt in gentle patterns where there is no blame but the acceptance of it is as it is with still a pull of feeling~

I really like the style in which you wrote this piece, Tommy, the images laid down for the reader to work through without too much leading. I found the parenthetical lines added impact to the whole. Great work.
