"Over The Edge"

"Over The Edge"

A Poem by Tommy

The sense for ideology will never fade,

it's quite horrific, these visions of reality;

some seek to sedate, so that time seems to stands still,

while thoughts cease to elaborate.

Want to feel numb, released

from this enlightenment of mind?

It's not enough you know? Opinions

will run full circle.

The dark feeds the allusion of light with judgment,

while the masses hide in the shadows.

Hopes will not save face for faith,

and the rain that once washed us clean

is polluted by man's thoughts of convenience,

all while the preachers scream, "Forgiveness!"

Purge the thoughts from mind,

and walk the world deaf, dumb, and blind,

trying not to stumble over the bodies

as they rise with blood in the waters attesting value for life.

Some say, "Run towards higher ground

and elevate yourself above the destruction!"

Only coming down to be baptized

in the murky notions that one man is better than another;

Emotion dictates stimulus, and molests the mind

with grandeur in self gratification.

The key to bonds is held in your own hands,

so unlock the mind, and see the authenticity

found in truth; survival does not need to be

disparaging, and we all can bask in the light.

They say, "It is innocent, playing this game

of follow the leader over the edge!!!"

I really like this I say humanity is fine just some of it is a bit off.I love the picture .As forgiveness goes I say I never offer it to anyone who doesn't ask for it.As it may as well be tossed on the floor .I think those who say ask Jesus for forgiveness forget that the offense wasn't against Jesus it was against another soul.I am always trying to make sense of the foolish things we all do .And I am no exception Mankind seems to be a little infected with the dark and I think we all will have to learn to live with that.I like that you are unafraid to attach your picture and name to what you believe. Now that is a man!!

The only poem on here that has ever made me cry. You are truly gifted. This goes to my favorites. "Some seek to sedate so that time stands still" Rises in me a sense of shame. Not always a bad thing if it brings us closer to our creator.

Brilliant! Perfect for these trying times of consumer sheeple, and political lemmings. Excellent work!

S what is it about idealism that disappears with age? is it disillusionment, is it the fact that life is too hard to spend the time fleshing out and promoting your ideology. Life and kids get in the way? I would think that if it was true and important to begin with we would be able to hold those ideals near throughout any of that...but thats not the case. Although, sometimes they pop up again at the other end of the age spectrum. What a thought provoking write...I so loved it.

This can be applied here on WC and in our sick world. Critical thinking is a dying art in today's world.

"Come down, and be baptized
in the murky notions that one man is better than another"
and here rise two questions:
#1. what if a man ISN'T better than another?
and
#2. what if he really is?

We need to evaluate our beliefs and ask ourselves "Why" we believe what we believe. Is it simply because we were taught that way. It's sad how the thing that should bring everyone together is the cutting board that is used to break us all apart. You gave us a good look at what happens when the truth is perverted.
