The Alcoholic's Poem

The Alcoholic's Poem

A Poem by Tom English

I had a good day
I had a bad day
I'm having some friends over
We're going to a party
We're going to a show
I'm happy
I'm sad
I'm lonely
I'm bored
I've succeeded
I've failed
I have the day off tomorrow
It's the weekend
It's Friday
It's Saturday
It's Sunday
I'm in love
She doesn't love me
It's raining
It's snowing
It's a summer night
It's an autumn night
It's a spring afternoon
It's to keep warm in the winter
It's Monday
It's Tuesday
It's a boy
It's a girl
Congratulations
It's been awhile
It's Wednesday
It's Thursday
It's any day
Any reason
Anything
To not feel an ounce of anything at all

thanks man, glad some one likes. of course you can add me.
Yes, I like the 'fresh form' that you are using in the 'list' fashion. It certainly does hit all the reasons and more importantly, excuses, why someone continues to overindulge in alcohol. I think it is a very useful type of poem. Maybe even to be included and printed in AA literature for those in the program. Keep up the good work and welcome to this Writer's group. I am always interested in reading from someone new.
