Crumbs POEM

Crumbs POEM

A Chapter by C Peril
"

A poem, part of The 2nd Burden Anthology.

"
The cell. Within the dungeon. Within the labyrinth.
Within the cavern. The crumbs are meagre. And mouldy.
I dropped them so long ago. And my sight isn't what it once was.
But the lantern which you have given me, shall help me walk
the long way out. Back into sunshine. Gawping at the open vistas
and God's hand - guiding clouds, the way I used to swirl the foamy
bubbles atop the water in the bath - sacred, special things
(knowing I can endure, and live).
*
The long walk begins today, in earnest, and every day the same.
Mature, as I am, I know that there're no short cuts. And the
dark passages where I contend with the only true horror, my fears,
will get the best of me at times. I will succumb and cower. A
wretched mess with unkempt hair and broken obligations.
I accept that
*
But it won't stop me from walking on.

I really like this one. To me, it speaks of determination, tenacity and courage. Courage is not being always brave and never being scared shitless. Courage is moving forward even though you ARE scared shitless. That takes a heroic attitude which is presented here at the end of this piece. I enjoyed this collection immensely. You are such a talented and gifted writer! Keep up the great work!
