Summa

Summa

A Poem by C Peril

Do you remember that summer
the one we spent in bed
the one that went by in a blur

What do you remember of that summer
will it be the way the sheets
stuck to us

the way we stumbled through
a million little silences
as i sat humbled

by the grace of god
you're so pretty

Or could it be that teenage kiss
that started it all off
that struck a nerve

and struck a chord

Cause I personally
will remember the scents
soaking into my pillow

I'll remember staring patiently
at the resting figure beside of me
there's an angel in my bed

Caresses seduction something
out of this world as the frenzy
follows and the calm descends

The clinging closeness
as sunrise brings us in where
sleep had seen you depart

I'll try not to remember the
utter agony of our first fight
and the fury and the things we forgot

as we tore into each other
risking tragedy

Tempting tears out

The solitude that flooded in
in the wake of your trip back home
home alone

So I'll think fondly of that summer
the one we spent in bed;
I'll soon be knowing autumn
the wait the dread

The romantic overtures and longing this exudes are palpable. Those are the summers of our lives that we'll long remember.
