Eyes Like Yours

Eyes Like Yours

A Poem by C Peril

With eyes
like bayonets
You butcher
my heart
You render
it a bloody
mass,
of tissue
Flesh
Again

Beating barely,
on the floor
So that I
may sink
lower
than before
And  that    good  gone
     all    was      is
For a heart
that's no
more, leaves
me with
what?
My animalistic
nature, deeply
depraved?
Something worse
than lust,
though
An anxious
longing left
unsated
You're miraculous
and you're
murderous,
my love
With eyes
like yours
Leaving after
the loss,
inflicted
Wounds which
won't heal
Masochistic
I still can't bring myself
to go
Eyes like yours

This is quite simply delicious, bordering as it does on the depraved and that precariously balanced state somewhere near the point where one's subjective experience of both pain and pleasure become sublimely blurred........... Neville

Ah, the old self torture that so many apply as a bandage for broken hopes and dreams. It can't be helped I know until we find a cure for love and I think if we could find such a "cure" we'd be more sorrowful than before. I guess it's that thing of "Tis better to have loved and lost..." It doesn't make it any easier, nonetheless. Interesting how we can separate a single characteristic (in this case, the eyes) to represent a more complex set of feelings. Nicely done and completely understood. Bless.
