The Honour of Knowing You

The Honour of Knowing You

A Poem by C Peril

Give me your testimony and speak your words to me,
I will hear your voice and reaffirm your truths
You are the person I strive to be like,
brave and true and kind and free of malice
Should you ever falter, look to the stars and know
that I reside there, with them
And like those burning beacons I shall shower you
in a liberating light,
I shall remind you of what you can be
For in the shadows, where you go in misery,
you will have no friend fonder than me
Never shall I leave you, companion, for your draw
is just too strong
Know that every lonely step, every tragic tear,
will be my burden too   because
I have no honour greater than this,
the honour of knowing you
(Dedicated to Y)
