"Cut Red Rose"

"Cut Red Rose"

A Poem by Tommy
"

‘I would not die for love as cut red roses do’ (Kerry O’Connor)

"

Autumn Eden, even graceful leaves fall.

Too heavy became the sacred, wings pure,

trading peace for mortal wight, love procured.

My departed rose secured with fate’s call,

I fell to love, left the Light, and seen thrall.

Sleeved hearts rule affection’s timely couture;

laced black sable grieve, quills cheek in crow’s lure.

Thorns hunt, dredging judgment’s say un-forestalled.

“Dove for

                  E

                V

                  O

                 L

and my cut red rose  ( he    died).”

Heaven waits for no man, took him away,

to lands seen by angels fallen from Grace.

Far from grace, and I’m alone, this lost bride.

I’ve left far away from home; pall betray

hides his love now, my heart He can’t replace…

Author's Note

Tommy
Her work is like Classic Country, with a little Outlaw twang in it, making it unique; far from that pop shit they call country these days…And to this country boy that’s a good thing…Yes that’s a metaphor for how I see her work… I hope I caught a little of your flare in this Kerry…

Oh snap....you picked a tough one to master here my dear boy...but what an amazing, amazing write. This had the trademark lilt and hard boiled beauty that is her trade mark. Took balls to take this on....and you carry yours with a pallet jack my friend. Simply divine.

I have always felt that impersonations were extremely difficult. Its one thing to master your own style, rhythm, and structure, but to master someone else's.... well that's a job very few people feel is a waste of time because it does get very difficult. But you did a great job and I just really love the structure.

My goodness Tommy. You've taken it to a whole new level here.
Just when the depths of the soul have been completely scoured
You emerge with yet another discovery.

I absolutely adore your spelling of the word love backwards and the downward spiral it takes.......this is divine!
