History Repeats

As I peer into the endless depths of yore

And stare into the infinite horizon of the future

And as I contemplate my own present

I realize

History repeats itself

In this never-ending cycle

A cycle of humanity

Never learning from

Our mistakes, our failings

And thus are our hands bound to it

Those who cannot learn from the past

Are doomed to repeat it

Our hands are tied

If we forget our history

We will repeat it

Into the infinite horizon of the future

Massacres, Slaughters

Genocides, Wars

Corruption, Avarice

Geopolitics, Imperialism

Globalization, Commerce

Domination, Submission

Exploitation, Slavery

Success, Failure

Expansion, Contraction

Stretching from the endless depths of history

To the infinite possibilities of the future

It has all happened before

It will all happen again

So take solace and learn

From what will happen

For it will all occur

Over and over

Until you learn from it

Until we learn from our history

We are doomed to repeat it

All have already occurred

And will occur again

First as Tragedy

Then as Farce

Over and over

From the depths of the past

To the horizons of the future
