They Are Not ObjectsA Poem by ThoctarA poem about North American views on relationships (Particularly on the part of males)They Are Not Objects You parade them around like trophies Holding them up high for all the world to see Showing them off to your fellow man But they are not objects They are human beings They have rights, feelings, emotions They exist And you do not deserve to objectify them You take the body for your own Extract everything you can from it Squeezing every last drop Until there is nothing left Nothing but an empty shell The legacy of your actions Look at what you have done You have made them into objects You have made them see themselves as objects Just like you see them But they are not objects They are human beings And someday You will pay for those actions They will rise up And show you just how human they are Your reign will end In smoke and flames Blood and tears And you can gaze upon your legacy, upon your trophies They will hold your corpse up high A shell of your former self And you yourself will be a trophy You will no longer be seen as a human being You will be an object Just as you once saw them And maybe when it is all over You will have learnt something You parade them around like trophies Holding them up high for all the world to see Showing them off to your fellow man But they are not objects And neither are you You are all human beings.
