What do I see in You?

What do I see in You?

A Poem by Austin

What do I see in you?

I see

A Ceiling, littered with cracks and leaks

That can’t stop the smiles and laughter from coming through

I see

An altar, one that I kneel to

Where i can spill out my breath, illuminated in candle light

And want no words in return

I see

Burned husks, resigned to silence

How can we live like this? When these thousands of voices

Pierce the veils of wind in agony

I see

An abyss filled with jenga blocks

Wood rectangles almost reaching the surface

But always toppling over, and it starts all over again

Finally, but most importantly, I see

How the light can warm your skin

When you are underwater, floating to the surface

Pillars of light, striking like spears

Unswayed by the low current
