Red Rose

Red Rose

A Poem by Thirishri

Rich colour

Bright crimson of blood

Hidden deep within

Beyond the wicked thorns

This violent beauty!

This lover’s symbol!

So like the love

That it represents

Sharp thorns

Tear the heart

I bleed, I scream, I cry

And I ask why

Something so beautiful

Can cause this pain

Nature’s silent killer

Has found a victim.
