I Could Let this Anger.

I Could Let this Anger.

A Poem by L.E.Osborne
"

A very old poem.

"
I could let this anger take me,
It would let you think you won.
But I’d rather choke to death,
Than to give you that much fun.

I would wish the skies to drown me,
Before I’d let you see the day.
When my enemies surround me,
And I turn and run away.

You inspire a hate within me,
That burns me up inside.
But I’d rather pluck my eyes out,
Than have you steal my pride.

Good rhyming and good philosophy here. Why do those who anger you deserve the gift of your precious attention?

This is such a strong write and conveyed so well in rhyme and meter. Anger is such a negative emotion, but one that burns within us all from time to time. Inspirational writing LEO. Well done.

This poem really speaks to me as a person. I almost never allow my anger to overcome my critical thought. It is too easy to give in to our basic instincts and allow emotions to control our response. A better person simply ignores ignorance and hate. It reflects the content of character to show restraint in times of conflict. Gandhi and MLK Jr. defined these greater human qualities. Thank for sharing these thoughtful and important words through your poetry.
