Learning to Fail.

Learning to Fail.

A Poem by L.E.Osborne

How does one fail in a graceful way?
Should she hunker down when trouble hits?
Batten down her hatches?
Or for what faults she can admit,
Pledge not to hide and not to stray?

Who does one turn to in a pinch?
A friend with comforting lies?
The ever truthful foe?
Or with whatever given inch,
find solace in your own replies?

When should the falter be the fail?
The first or second time?
Does a limit exist?
Or if be there eternal chances to climb,
Let forgiveness ever reign.

U R always welcome ..
from the receiving end .."fool me once, shame on me; fool me twice, shame on you" your opening line instantly inspired scenes of fainting or falling ladies in the old movies ..ever so delicately they dropped .. as if on strings ;)) i like the questioning format .. its very engaging .. works for me! "A friend with comforting lies?" great line says i! we all have and have been the friend who in the hopes of comforting/consoling will lie ... go figure .. it never is a good way to go is it!? and "find solace in your own replies?" fine stuff L.E. ... your closing is an eternal dilemma ... ideally there should be no limit to forgiving .. but .. there is a limit to the offender .. its simply is unjust to go ahead and commit the same act over and over thinking ... well .. it will be forgiven .. thought provoking poem .. covers all the bases it seems ..glad i did not miss it ..best of the day to ya!

Thank you so much for this in depth review! I greatly appreciate it! x
Hello, L! :)
The only graceful way to fail that I know, is to accept it and learn from it. Otherwise, you look a little slow. Haha... Forgiveness is a given thing, so how much of it to expect depends on who is giving it.
You could trade gracefulness for scorched earth, and make them beg for your forgiveness.

Ha ha true, I do love a bit of revenge! Thank you for the review!!
There is no shame in failure my Dad used to say. You own it, pick up the pieces and learn from it. Three nicely conveyed stanzas here LE Trying not to beat yourself up about your mistakes helps too. Great Title by the way.

You are welcome. Have a good Bank Holiday weekend.
Enjoyed my 1st read from you L.E
Like the format and content
Not sure if I'd prefer a friends comforting lies
Or a foe's truth
However
Your final line is perfect
If we let forgiveness reign
I believe we find our own truth
Thought provoking
