YOU

This is a poem I wrote a year ago. I feel very differently about it now but I thought I'd share it with you anyway.

I'll always take a chance on you

and I'll always think you're worth it.

Even though my heart beats twice as fast,

the harder that you hurt it.

I live for your attention,

its something that I crave.

Every word and laugh and lie,

another moment that I save.

I'll tell myself to quit you,

because I know you'll do me in.

That's why I ride the highs I'm given,

in this game I'll never win.

Sometimes I think about it,

these silly games we play.

And I think about my heart,

and how you kill it everyday.

But then you make me laugh,

and if only for a minute.

I forget how out of love you are.

I forget how much I'm in it.
