One Last Time.

One Last Time.

A Story by L.E.Osborne

Let me see you, if only for one last time. The words echoed out to her from the page. And all at one, she could hear his voice, see his face. That salty taste he'd left in her mouth resurfaced to as a fine layer on her tongue. She wouldn't deny she had the urge to go . After all she told herself, she deserved answers. Her hands began to tremble yet she held on tightly to that letter. She wanted to tear it into a million pieces and burn it in front of him the way she had been burned. She remembered the drawer where she'd hidden her ring. In that drawer was any evidence that she'd ever been his, that she had ever believed in him, made promises to him. Promises she'd never intended to break. She glanced down at the envelope detailed to her. Traced the name Sarah with her eyes only, not wanting to touch any more of his lies.
But then, she thought I am one of his lies now. It was a coldness she couldn't shake. The memories that etched her body, every inch of skin he'd touched she could never fully wash him off of her, out of her. He was a stain on her soul that she kept hidden. She stared down at her left hand, now a newer shinier ring graced it. That finger that meant promise and love. All the things she felt when it had first been placed so delicately on. Everything that had been void with him. And still she longed to go, ached for him. He had left her burning with love, lust, anger and hatred. She deserved answers she told herself as she grabbed her coat. But what she needed was to see him one last time.
