What Can We Kill Today?

What Can We Kill Today?

Notes to a Lover

"

Let’s destroy it together!
Whatever we create " love, joy or hate.
Our babies are human, we’re not
Our nature is to maim and kill
And what better than our own emotional flesh?
Something of us that mingled,
And took a shape of its own.
Running away with our restraint.
Making utter mortals of us
In our impossible, demonic worlds
So let’s destroy it together,
And enjoy existing as beasts!

To me, that which we are destroying or killing refers to democracy and truth.
They are the children created and then maimed and killed.
There are those leading the charge, but those who follow without stopping the carnage are just as guilty.
This is a timely poem to me...I relate to our political situation, even though the inspiration might have come from a different place.

Thank you, my friend. This is such a great review on my impulsive poem.

Sometimes, in frustration or just seeing no reasonable way forward... Instead of fixing a myriad issues, it's just better to trash it all and start over again. Yea, all of it in the trash and starting from scratch. As a creative type, this might be a familiar 'thing' to many.. Or even as just regular people. When there's so many little things that you don't know where to start..

Whether that be some abstract construct or something physically real or just principles, connections, jobs.. It makes no difference save for what impact it has later.

Cheers

It was good, reading you again. 😁
This poem may be notes to a lover in a totally destructive relationship, but for me they represent the wider world and the headlines in the news each day. Butchery and conflict. Dead babies. Oh the joy of living in current times. A harsh reality.
