Dancing with eyes closedA Poem by Deron Alexis
What is it?
Silver, gold? Polished clay? Yes, yes. All of those. By all means, There should be flowers in your hair. But you inspire much more; More than this frivilous adornment. Or awe. Your smooth calming appearence Or going red; cross eyed when you laugh. No hiding. Its genuine. I trust you. I would show you All my ugly. I've found some peace in you. I can pin down... Think one thought at a time. I can hold you close. I can feel your warmth. I breathe you in And my heart rattles in its cage; Just hoping you dont hear it. Somewhere in this haze, You press you press your mouth to mine. Im sorry my lips are callous. I bite them when I'm nervous. You hold me with your eyes. We sway from side to side. You step on me and I apologize. And the rest of the world Just disappeared Made of glass or air Or maybe was never there. Maybe we're just blind. Dancin' with our eyes closed. © 2018 Deron AlexisAuthor's Note
